About AVDEA

=> Timeless Insights

AVDEA is a personal journalistic project focused on people, as well as on places and how they are designed to sustain life – and much more. It is a new project by its author; more about the author can be found below.

Leadership is one of the most fascinating and important roles a person can assume – whether leading a city, a country, or a team of professionals. The well-being and success of those within a leader’s sphere of influence largely depend on the quality of that leadership. In this context, AVDEA set out to study the leadership of Dubai’s ruler. This led to a journey to Dubai itself – to observe how this leadership vision has been realized in practice. Aware that economic success alone is not a sufficient measure of leadership quality, the project sought a deeper understanding. What was discovered proved to be truly fascinating.

Dubai became the starting point of this exploration, as what has been put into practice there offers valuable insights – not only for observers, but especially for leaders of all kinds.

AVDEA shares with its audience Dubai’s leadership vision and how it shapes everyday life – for residents and visitors alike – through infrastructure, institutions, and across economic and social development.

About the author of this website

Adalberto Vasconcelos de Araújo is a Brazilian with German citizenship. After studying Business Administration in Germany, he worked for globally operating German and U.S. IT companies in Brazil and across Central Europe as a business development professional

From 2002 to 2023, alongside his business development activities, he also served as a lecturer in business development–related subjects at German Universities of Applied Sciences.

Although he is now officially entering retirement, he does not intend to withdraw from active life. Instead, he seeks to remain engaged with people and places while continuing to develop ideas and projects.

He first visited Dubai in November 2025 for a two-week stay. The city’s dynamic environment, its notable balance between professional activity and quality of life, and the visible outcomes of the leadership of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum left a lasting impression on him. Dubai did not merely attract his interest; it encouraged him to return for deeper observation and reflection.

In 2026, he spent five weeks in Dubai studying how the leadership vision and philosophy of Sheikh Mohammed are translated into practice. In his view, no university in the world could have offered a more immersive and real-world learning experience in leadership. The outbreak of war in the Gulf region caught him, along with many others, by surprise, and allowed him to gain even deeper insights into Sheikh Mohammed’s leadership in a challenging situation.
